MA in Art History

The Art History area has developed a Special Case MA program in Art History. This program is administered on a case by case basis. Special Case MA's in Art History are developed in consultation with the faculty of Art History and the College of Graduate Studies and Research. Currently, graduate students in Art History have interdisciplinary advisory committees with faculty members drawn from across campus. Special Case MA thesis programs have been developed on the subjects of “Aboriginal-centred Museology and the Keeping House” and “Art and Radical Politics” among others.

Admission Requirements

Candidates must have a BA degree in Art History or its equivalent, with acceptable standing upon entrance to the program. When applying for admission, students must first contact a member of the Art History faculty (well in advance of the application deadline) in order to explore the possibility of setting up a Special Case MA.

Candidates must apply online through the College of Graduate Studies and Research. Candidates must submit, as part of their application, a statement of intent and proposed area of research, examples of previous essays, three letters of recommendation, your official undergraduate transcripts, and an application fee.
