Welcome to the Visual Resources Centre

The Visual Resources Centre (VRC) is a part of the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The VRC is a teaching and learning resource, which supports all three areas in the Department: Art History, Studio and Art Education, as well as off-campus site extension classes in these disciplines.

The VRC maintains digital and analog image, video and DVD collections in support of the teaching, research and artistic work of the Department of Art & Art History. Recent projects undertaken by the VRC include collection development in such areas as: Aboriginal Art History, contemporary video, contemporary art practice, new media art and installation, extended media, historical and contemporary photography, 19th century visual culture, and images of the Canadian West, among others.

The VRC provides the following services:

  • general collection assistance for in-class presentations and individual research;
  • access to digital images, slides and videos on historic and contemporary art work;
  • access to special collections
  • a newsletter to faculty and students listing new resources;
  • information files on contemporary artists;
  • and access to the Department’s Master of Arts and Master of Fine Arts Graduate theses and exhibition papers.
