Internationally recognized for its work in the areas of Globalization, Immigration, and Integration and related areas and has a critical mass of faculty actively engaged in undergraduate and graduate teaching and research. The Department has academic agreements with Xi'an Jiaotong University in China for graduate (and soon undergraduate) joint degree programs. Several Department members are affiliated with the Prairie Metropolis Centre (PMC) jointly funded by SSHRC and Citizenship and Immigration Canada, including Terry Wotherspoon who is Chair of the PMC Board, and Peter Li who is Domain Leader for the Economic and Labour Market Integration research domain. Patience Elabor-Idemudia received a commendation and Plaque from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Nigeria Africa.
